Behavior Policy
In keeping with council policies, Kiwa Day Camp has instituted the following behavior policy for ALL campers including boys and minis. Please read this to your children before camp. If a child is dismissed from camp for behavioral infractions, homesickness, or inability to handle camp program, NO REFUNDS will be given.
Camp Rules: All campers must follow these rules while on camp premises.
- ANY child found outside our fences/designated areas (by or in the streams, roadways or neighboring properties) WILL BE SENT HOME IMMEDIATELY and will not be allowed to return to camp. NO REFUNDS will be given.
- The Longmont Humane Society walks dogs near our designated area. Remind children that no matter how much they love dogs or how cute the puppy is they are not leave our space and run over to pet the animals. The Humane Society will be sensitive to our group in the area and will keep a distance from us. This protects your child as well as a dog that is being socialized and may not be ready to meet new people yet.
- There are special rules to be followed when the petting zoo is on site. Please review these with your children at your parent camper meeting.
- Child-Child issues will be solved in the usual Girl Scout manner: the children will be mediated by their leader to solve the issue. In the absence of a solution, the Unit Leader will implement a solution.
There will be no:- Hitting, biting or otherwise harming another camper
- Foul language
- Spraying other campers with water bottles
- Sharing food/drinks (due to allergy issues)
- When animals are onsite for our program, the handlers/owners instructions must be adhered to. This is for the child’s safety as well as the animal’s safety and well-being.
The following will occur in the event of infractions:
- Unit leader will discuss issue with child up to two times.
- Third time child will speak with director of camp.
- Parent will be called to discuss issue with child and director.
- Additional infractions will result in dismissal from camp for day.
- Additional trip to director on subsequent day will result in dismissal from remainder of camp.
PLEASE NOTE: We have not had any significant issues at camp in the past several years, however, council requires us to maintain a written behavior policy in the event there is a problem. Thank you for understanding.
